On June 22 I traveled to Belgium to capture the beautiful wedding of Rob and Rochelle. The wedding took place on the beautiful estate; Heerlyckijt van Elsmeren. Rob is Canadian and Rochelle a real Dutchwoman, the two live with their dachshund Rufio in Amsterdam. They met in a bar and have been inseparable ever since. Fun fact about the wedding, it didn’t last just one day, but they celebrated the entire weekend! I was really looking forward to it and would like to take you with me to this special wedding!
The morning of the wedding has arrived. Everyone prepares themselves, but of course the men and women are separated. So, I start with the men. A chaotic and pleasant atmosphere, everyone is still a bit drunk from the night before so getting dressed takes a little longer than expected. Rob would give a lesson in bow tie, but his nerves left him unaware of how it should be done.
Rochelle is in a beautiful room where her hair and makeup are done. Her mother, mother-in-law, sister, friends and Dachshund Rufio by her side. Then it’s time to put on the dress, a beautiful, elegant Rue de Seine. Her mother and sister help her to put on the dress and of course a little assistance from Rufio is also necessary!
The bride and groom only see each other for the first time during the ceremony and that makes it a extra special moment. The ceremony is done by two friends; people laughed, and a tear blew away. Wonderful to see the love between these two lovebirds. After the vows a romantic kiss follows: you can feel the love! Dog Rufio came to bring the rings to complete this special moment! But there was more. After the ceremony, the bride’s sister surprises the couple with a spectacular performance. Together with family in the audience, she forms a true orchestra! What a fantastic ceremony, so grateful to be here.
After the ceremony it’s time for cake! All the sweets are waiting for us in the garden of the mansion. When cutting the cake, Rob traditionally pushes cake into Rochelle’s face, and of course she returns the favor! But he doesn’t seem to be bothered with this and uses Rufio dachshund as a tissue to lick his face clean. A pleasant and relaxed afternoon follows. The guests enjoy themselves with all kinds of fun games and enjoy the sunny afternoon at the country house.
Together with the bridal couple I make a tour around the estate to take photos in a relaxed and casual way. In between there is also time for a beer and a lot of laughter. When we return it is time for dinner. This couple knows how to make an entrance and goes for it. Between courses, beautiful and moving speeches are given by family and friends. When all stomachs are filled, the bride and groom stand up for the opening dance! Followed by a fantastic party! A wonderful ending for an amazing day.
It was a special weekend, so unique and loving. The bridal couple has stayed true to themselves and what makes them happy. It was a wedding that suited them perfectly in every way and that makes me so happy.

Op 22 juni reisde ik af naar België om de prachtige bruiloft van Rob en Rochelle vast te leggen. De bruiloft vond plaats op het prachtige landgoed Heerlyckijt van Elsmeren. Rob is Canadees en Rochelle Nederlands, samen met hun teckel Rufio wonen de twee in Amsterdam. Ze leerde elkaar daar kennen in een bar en zijn sindsdien onafscheidelijk. Extra leuk aan deze bruiloft is dat het niet één dag is, maar het hele weekend duurde! Ik had er onwijs veel zin in en neem jullie graag mee naar deze bijzondere bruiloft!
De ochtend van de bruiloft is aangebroken, de mannen en vrouwen maken zich gescheiden klaar en ik begin bij de mannen. Een chaotische en gezellige boel, sommige zijn nog een beetje tipsy van de avond ervoor dus aankleden duurt iets langer dan verwacht. Rob zou wel even een lesje vlinderstrikje strikken geven, maar door de zenuwen wist hij spontaan niet meer hoe het moest. Een hilarisch moment dat ik niet had willen missen.
Rochelle zit in een prachtige kamer waar haar haar en make-up worden gedaan. Haar moeder, schoonmoeder, zus, vriendinnen en teckel Rufio aan haar zijde. Daarna is het tijd om de jurk aan te trekken, een prachtige, elegante Rue de Seine. Haar moeder en zus helpen haar om de jurk aan te doen en natuurlijk is een beetje assistentie van Rufio ook noodzakelijk!
De bruid en de bruidegom zien elkaar pas voor het eerst tijdens de ceremonie. De ceremonie wordt door twee vrienden gedaan; er werd gelachen en her en der een traantje weggepinkt. Prachtig om de liefde tussen deze twee geweldige mensen te zien. Na de geloften volgt een spetterende kus! Hondje Rufio kwam de ringen brengen om dit bijzondere moment compleet te maken! Maar dat was nog niet alles. Na de ceremonie verrast de zus van de bruid het paar met een spectaculair optreden. Samen met familie in het publiek vormt ze een waar orkest! Wat een fantastische ceremonie om bij te mogen wonen.
Na de ceremonie is het tijd voor taart! In de tuin van het landhuis staat alles al klaar. Bij het aansnijden duwt Rob taart in het gezicht van Rochelle, wat zij uiteraard bij hem terug doet! Maar hij lijkt hier totaal niet mee te zitten en gebruikt teckel Rufio als tissue om zijn gezicht schoon te likken. Een gezellige, ontspannen en gemoedelijke middag volgt. De gasten vermaken zich enorm met allemaal leuke spelletjes en genieten van de zonnige middag op het landhuis.
Samen met het bruidspaar maak ik een rondje om het landgoed om op een heerlijk ongedwongen manier foto’s te schieten. Tussendoor is er ook nog tijd voor biertje en wordt er veel gelachen. Als we terugkomen is het tijd om aan tafel te gaan. Dit bruidspaar weet hoe ze een entree moeten maken en gaan er helemaal voor. Tussen de gangen door worden er prachtige en ontroerende speeches gegeven door familie en vrienden. Als alle magen gevuld staat het bruidspaar op voor de openingsdans! Gevolgd door een fantastisch feest! Een prachtige afsluiter voor een waanzinnige dag.
Het was een bijzonder weekend, zo eigen en liefdevol. Het bruidspaar is zó trouw gebleven aan zichzelf en waar zij gelukkig van worden. Het was een bruiloft die in elk opzicht perfect bij hen paste en daar word ik dan weer zo gelukkig van.
